A private blog network is a series of relatively minor websites that link to a central, larger website. The larger website is typically the website that has been monetized, and is central to the business involved, and the smaller websites usually have high-quality content that will draw people in initially.
Essentially, the smaller websites and their content will serve as a form of low-level marketing for the larger website that has the paid material. Internet marketing is tricky, and it is even trickier when it is overt in the form of ads. Getting the attention of customers through content that they would seek out anyway often makes more sense.
